Smith names Wolves squad for Wigan clash

WARRINGTON Wolves will host local rivals Wigan Warriors on Thursday night at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, kick-off 8pm boosted by the return of full-back Matty Russell to the 19.

The Wolves fell just short in the reverse fixture at the DW Stadium back in April, 30-20 in the Warriors’ favour.

Wigan had a week away from fixtures at the weekend, whereas the Wolves hit some much-needed form against Leigh to book their place in the semi-finals of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith has named a 19-man squad for the clash with Wigan with James Laithwaite the latest player sidelined through injury last week and Ben Currie missing through suspension, after picking up a two match ban after pleading guilty to a Grade C offence of making deliberate contact with the referee during the victory over Leigh.

Youngsters Harvey Livett and Sam Wilde are also added to the squad.
