Warrington keep up promotion chase

WARRINGTON maintained their promotion challenge in the Vivio Cheshire County League divison two with a fine two-wicket victory at Brooklands.
The home side batted first and reacheed 203-7, Ashley Scholes taking 4-47.
Will Fleetwood hit hit 57 and Adam Green 44 as Warrington replied with 206-8.
Warrington 2nd went down by six wickets against Brooklands 2nd at Walton Lea.
James Sharrock top scored with 64 for Warrington as they totalled 176. But this was not enough as Brooklands coasted to 180-4.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Glazebury continued in their winning ways with a 136-run demolition of Trafford Metrovics.
Ian Black hit 48 and Tom Wilkinson 62 as Glazebury reached 180-8. Metrovics had no answer to the pace of Sam Stanier, 4-16 and Dave Acton, 5-25 and collapsed to 44 all out.
Glazebury 2nd proved no match for Port Sunlight, who hit 232-9 despite Chris Ayre’s 4-49 and Alex McArthur’s 3-34. Glazebury were bowled out for 162, Michael Nutkins hitting a superb 89 and Ayre offering good support with 33.
Stretton enjoyed a nine wicket win over Saughall, who batted first and hit 198-7 but could make little impression on the Stretton batting line-up.
Appleton had a welcome seven wicket victory over The Groves, after dismissing them for 116, A Aslam 7-19. Appleton replied with 120-3, Ali Sharif hitting 67 not out.
