TODAY IS World Elder Abuse Awareness Day – and to mark the day there will be an information staff in the foyer at Warrington Hospital.
The aim is to get people to think about vulnerable adults and older people in the community and raise awareness of how to recognise and report abuse.
Hospital staff will be on hand to offer advice.
Pat WrightWorld Elder Abuse Awareness Day takes place every year with the aim of raising awareness about abuse and neglect of older people. The day aims to focus attention on the problem of physical, emotional, and financial abuse of elders and promotes the resources and services that work to increase victim safety.
Cllr Pat Wright (pictured), Warrington Borough council’s lead member for health and adult social care said: “It’s really important to us that all vulnerable residents are able to live safely and free from fear of abuse or victimisation.
“The day is about all of us working together to bring greater recognition of the mistreatment of older people and highlight the need for action.
“As a council, we are committed to combating abuse and neglect and together, we can raise a helping hand to those who really need it.”
Residents can show support by wearing a purple ribbon to mark the day.
