Service with a smile from a local lad made good

WHAT started out as work experience with a local plumber has flourished into a thriving business for Rory Woodhouse.

Now eight years on from launching Woodhouse Rory has 13 employees, which he believes is the perfect number – big enough to cope with large jobs, but small enough to retain the personal touch. Rory, who operates out of the Frodsham Business centre said: “When I was 15 I completed work experience with local plumber Kevin Ball. I really enjoyed the work and realised I would like to pursue plumbing as a career.

“When I finished school having completed my A levels I decided to follow my passion for plumbing and undertook a full four year apprenticeship which was followed by employment with local companies. Having gained this practical experience I was keen to start my own company so I could learn all aspects of running a small business. I started Woodhouse Plumbing with myself and one apprentice.

“Since then the company has steadily grown and after three years we obtained NIC-EIC electrical certification and now have three full time electricians working for us offering the complete plumbing heating and electrical package.”

Rory says ‘Woodhouse Plumbing, Heating and Electrical’ was set up with the aim of offering customers a high quality service delivered by a local workforce that has a personal touch in terms of friendliness and professional pride; a service that you could come back to whenever you needed a job doing.

Rory added:”We still work now for a lot of my first customers. Every time we do a job we look at the job as if it was in our own home – down to the finest detail of making sure sockets are all level and pipes are square. A lot of our customers request and know our engineers by first name. More than 85% of our work comes from recommendation and regular customers. Having recently celebrated my 30th birthday

“I am proud of what I have achieved, the experience I have gained and most importantly what I have been able to establish in the local community in terms of a quality service and jobs for local people.
The cornerstone of his success, Rory believes, is the size of the business ‘We are large enough to offer a range of services and undertake larger jobs but small enough for me to ensure we offer the personal touch.

“Our location at the Frodsham Business Centre is central to the local community and our workforce live in the local area. Rory concluded: “We are a very close team at Woodhouse and we plan on taking part in a number of team charity events this year. So watch this space!”
