THE Mayor Cllr Geoff Settle and his Mayoress wife Jean represented Warrington at the Queen’s latest Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in glorious sunshine – the night after visiting a show to see the “King”.
The Mayoress said “It was a great day and we happened to be at the right place at the right time to get some fantastic views of Her Majesty in her stunning deep pink outfit. Thank goodness I was in lime green and didn’t clash.
“At one point she stopped in front of us to talk to some pre-selected guests. She was within touching distance and we could eaves drop in on the conversation.”
The evening before the garden party the Mayor and Mayoress had been to see the King.
Cllr Settle said  “Back in the 1970’s I bought my first Vinyl Long Playing record called Tapestry by Carole King so what was more fitting than to go and see the Hit Musical “Beautiful” about her life and music. You could say it was quite a Royal 24 hours during which we saw both a Queen and King”.
