Frodsham’s 39-run victory

FRODSHAM enjoyed a fine 39-run victory at Eastham and Bromborough Pool in their Cheshire Alliance game.
Batting first, Frodsham reached 180-7, Tom Wilkinson top sfcoring with 58 and Richard Warburton scoring 46.
The home side were dismissed for 141, Warburton proving his all-round value with a haul of 5-33.
Frodsham 2nd were at home to Stalybridge St Pauls and lost out in a low scoring game.  Andrew Graham took 5-15 and Ian Hart took 4-27 as the visitors were bowled out for a modest 106. But Frodsham were unable to cope with a good bowling attack and were dismissed for 70, with only two batsmen reaching double figures.
In the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, Kingsley were bundled out for 81 at  home to Bunbury, with only three batsmen getting into double figures. The visitors hit off the runs for the loss of three wickets, despite Steve Kitchen’s 2-16.
Kingsley 2nd dominated the return match at Bunbury, hitting 209-9, Alex Wilson hitting 87, Lee Tasker 36 and Andrew Ainsworth 31.
Bunbury struggled for runs as Joe Kitchen took 5-11. But they held out for a draw on 112-8 despite Kingsley using nine bowlers.
In the Vivio Cheshire County League, Alvanley were twice denied victory over Widnes – each time by one wicket.
The 1st XI game at Widnes saw Alvanley score 180, Mike Rowlands 64 and Andy Bennion 32. Widnes were hanging on at 169-9 at the close, Stephen Charles, 4-39 and Joe Hornby 3-20 being the pick of the Alvanley bowlers.
In the 2nd XI game at Alvanley, the home side hit 239, Ben Aveyard hitting 53, Glenn Pickersgill 69, Chris Fletcher  41 and Jeremy Brummittt 35. But Widnes again hung on at 168-9, Bill Ouzonidis taking 3-34 and Nigel Cox 3-34.
