WARRINGTON South MP David Mowat has welcomed news that two schools in his constituency will receive funding to improve their school buildings.
This is part of an extra £367 million that the government has allocated for investment in buildings at over one thousand schools across the country. The condition improvement fund targets schools that need additional money for repairs, or to help them expand.
Bridgewater High has been given funding for a new boiler and for repairs to its roof and guttering. Penketh High is being given funding to replace its roof. The new money will improve facilities at both schools, giving children the best possible start in life.
Mr Mowat said:”I’m delighted that these two schools are getting funding to repair and upgrade their facilities. I am particularly delighted that Penketh High will be getting funding for urgently needed repairs, though I intend to keep pushing for the more comprehensive rebuilding programme that the school urgently needs.
“Every family in Warrington deserves access to a local school with facilities that can provide the best learning environment for children. Because this Government has taken difficult decisions, our economy is now much stronger and is able to produce the resources we need to ensure that every child gets the best possible start in life.”
