Village that’s “cut off” after 7.30pm

Les HoyleVILLAGERS at Croft who don’t have a car are cut-off from the world after 7.30pm because of cuts in bus services.
A number of residents turned up at the monthly meeting of the parish council to complain about the problem.
Cllr Les Hoyle (pictured) said: “There was considerable anger. You need a car to live in Croft these days. People think we have been singled out for these cuts.  I have no doubt there are problems elsewhere too – but after 7.30pm we have got nothing.
“You can’t go into town to the cinema, you can’t go shopping of an evening. You can’t even get to Culcheth.”
The parish council is to raise the issue with Network Warrington and residents are to organise a protest petition to the borough council.
Croft has also been cut-off from broadband and electricity services.
Broadband – which is never good in the village – went down completely for two days.
Parts of the village also suffered an electricity blackout, with some properties relying on generators for nearly a week.
The parish council has complained to BT and Scottish Power.
