A MEMORIAL to the victims of the tragic fire at the Summerlands amusement park in 1973, which included two young men from Warrington, has been unveiled.

Alan Barker and Sean Kelly were two of the 50 people that died in the fire on the Isle of Man, and Warrington Borough Council laid a wreath during the dedication of the memorial, held on the 40th anniversary of the disaster.
Deputy leader of Warrington Borough Council, Cllr Mike Hannon, said: “I knew both Alan and Sean very well, and in fact Sean and I worked together as apprentice bricklayers. We used to go the local disco together.
“My thoughts are with Alan’s and Sean’s families at this time.”
