Briers not risked at Keighley

WARRINGTON Wolves are not risking Lee Briers for their Challenge Cup trip to Keighley Cougars on Sunday, kick off 3pm.
It had been expected that Briers (pictured right) could be back in action after being given the all clear on his neck injury a fortnight ago but he has not been named in Tony Smith’s 19 man squad.
Chris Bridge is also missing along with Bennie Westwood and Stefan Ratchford, as Smith gives some of the younger members of his squad a chance to shine.
It is the third successive year the clubs have met at this stage of the competition, and the second season in a row at Cougar Park.
Warrington are unbeaten in 10 Cup meetings with Keighley but are prepared for the challenges that face them come Sunday afternoon.
Smith said: “The challenges of going to Keighley and their ground and changing rooms are different and we look forward to going there having experienced it before and knowing a little bit more than we did last time. They are dangerous games; teams from the lower division grow a leg or two with nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain. We are well aware of that and have some game-time footage of Keighley. We will do our homework as we always do. We won’t be as familiar with the players as we are of Super League teams, there is still a bit of the unknown quantity.”
This week’s 19 sees a few new names make an appearance in the squad hoping to get their first hit-out.
