Satnam upset by Peel Hall decision

DEVELOPERS are “disappointed” following the decision by Warrington Borough Council to turn down their application to build 150 homes at Peel Hall.
Representatives from Satnam Millennium have expressed their disappointment following a council planning decision last week to reject their plans for homes off Mill Lane.
Up to 300 residents, opposed to the controversial plan, packed into the Parr Hall last Thursday for the meeting of the council’s development management committee.
There were cheers as the committee voted unanimously to oppose the scheme. The views of residents and councillors will be put forward when the appeal hearing to the proposals goes ahead later this year.

But Satnam say proposals represent major investment in the local area and will provide high-quality homes. They say plans offer a mix of housing types, including new family homes, and affordable properties to suit local needs such as first time buyers or key workers.
They say plans have been carefully designed to be in keeping with the character of the local area and benefit the community.
The company would provide a boost to sports facilities with more than £1 million invested in the playing fields at Windermere Avenue, which would help Winwick Athletic Football Club provide new and improved facilities.
Colin Griffiths of Satnam said: “Naturally we are disappointed with the development management committee’s resolution that had it been able to determine our application it would have refused our proposals for 150 new homes. “As the agreed time limit the council has to determine a planning application has expired by a considerable period, we have submitted an appeal based on the grounds of non-determination. This is not a decision we have taken lightly.”
He said it is on the appropriate site and would deliver sustainable growth in Warrington. He added that the company has worked to engage with local people by consultations, exhibitions and getting feedback on plans from the community.
Mr Griffiths added: “We are committed to working with all interested parties on this development to ensure that the best possible scheme is delivered.
“At this stage, we will carefully consider the council’s reasons for refusal as we continue through the planning process.”
