Beauty spot improvements

LYMM Parish Council is to investigate the cost of carrying out improvements to the footpath from the Lower Dam through The Dingle – a local beauty spot
But councillors have expressed disappointed that United Utilities – who own part of the land involved – have indicated they are not prepared to offer any financial support.
The council has thought for some time that the walkway from the Lower Dam should be improved to give more access to the area.
Cllr Sheila Woodyatt said: “All sorts of ideas have been put forward, including an observation platform from where people could see the waterfall and the stream.
“We approached United Utilities and they have agreed that we can carry out the improvements.
“But they are not prepared to give us any financial support, which is very disappointing.
“We are looking into the possibility of carrying out improvements, but clearly the cost is an issue. The work would have to be done properly – there would be health and safety issues.
“We couldn’t have a situation where someone could fall into the stream.
“But it is very disappointing that a public utility company is not prepared to offer any help.”
