WORK will start on Monday (March 4) on a major scheme which could cause traffic chaos in North Warrington – involving excavation of 3km of highway.
The scheme will involve temporary traffic lights and one temporary road closure – and

will take an estimated 12 weeks to complete.
Electricity North West will be renewing the high voltage cable between the Risley substation on Warrington Road and Culcheth substation on Common Lane as part of their ongoing network reinforcement programme.
The works will involve the excavation of 3km of highway from the substation on Warrington Road – at the junction with Cross Lane South – Glaziers Lane, Wigshaw Lane to the substation on Common Lane – opposite the junction with Wigshaw Lane.
The works on Warrington Road and Wigshaw Lane will be managed under temporary traffic lights which will be manually operated between the hours of 7am and 9.30am and also 3.30pm and 6pm to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.
The works on Glaziers Lane will be carried out under a road closure – but access will be maintained to properties and businesses throughout this section of the scheme.
