FIRE crews were called to two house fires in Warrington yesterday (Sunday) including one where a woman was rescued and taken to Warrington Hospital.
The first blaze was just after 7am at Blandford Road, Great Sankey, which is now under investigation.
Three fire engines attended following reports that someone was trapped in the house.
On arrival four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and a large industrial fan to tackle the fire. They located the woman and handed her to the care of an ambulance crew who took her to hospital.
Crews brought the blaze under control and then checked the neighbouring property for the spread of fire.
Later on Sunday night five fire engines attended a house in Warrington when a domestic boiler caught fire.
Two crews from Warrington, two from Stockton Heath and one from Runcorn were called to the blaze just after 10pm at Lady Acre Close, Lymm.
On arrival firefighters confirmed there was a fire involving a boiler on the ground floor.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the blaze.
It was suspected that the fire had spread to the cavity walls so a thermal imaging camera was used to check for the spread of fire.
Fire fighters then used small hand tools to expose the cavity walls to dampen down.
