AMATEUR cooks from throughout the area will be judged by a local celebrity TV chef at The Great Lymm British Red Cross Bake Off which takes place tomorrow (Sunday).

The challenge is at Lymm Village Hall and judges are local food experts include Lymm’s very own Michelin-Star TV chef Aiden Byrne.
Organiser Katie Baverstock said: “There’s a new community charity challenge in Lymm – and this time you barely need to leave your kitchen to be involved! Bakers of all levels are invited to enter.
“The Bake Off, which costs £2.50 per entry, will raise vital funds for the British Red Cross.”
People can take their creations between 9am and 10am, and there are four categories technical challenge, adult signature bake, junior signature bake and handmade bread. The winner will be revealed at 11.30am.
Katie said: “And if entrants decide to donate their delicious creations, these will be auctioned off to those attending to raise even more for the British Red Cross.”
The judges will also be hosting a variety of baking master-classes, including a session from The Little Velvet Cake Company on cake decoration.
Katie, a mother of two from Lymm, is currently on maternity leave and wanted to use her time at home to help the community. The charity is important to her and she has been a fundraising volunteer with the Red Cross for five years.
She said because of the strong community spirit in Lymm, she thought the event would be a success, and encouraged everyone to join in regardless of their level of skill.
Meanwhile Aidan will once again be featuring in BBC2’s Great British Menu challenge which celebrates 25 years of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Appeal.
Broadcasting each night from Monday February 11th at 7.30pm for one week Aidan will do battle with a whole host of top chefs.
Aiden said, “It’s my fourth attempt at Great British Menu and I am determined to go even further this year. I love the theme of the challenge and have spent lots of time developing my dishes in order to stand out from the other competitors. I think viewers will be surprised, inspired and entertained all at the same time!”
