Homes plan thrown out

PLANNING chiefs have thrown out a plan to demolish a bungalow at Grappenhall and replace it with a pair of semi-detached houses – despite officers recommending it should be approved.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee decided the scheme represented over-development of the site in Clarence Road.
A number of neighbours had objected to the proposal claiming a loss of privacy and natural light.
They argued the new houses would be out of character with existing dwellings and could accommodate as many as 10 people – a large increase compared to the bungalow and leading to an increase in traffic and on-street parking.
