Top honour for founder's wife

WARRINGTON Disability Partnership (WDP) gave a special award to Pam Thompson, wife of the charity’s founder Dave Thompson, at its Annual Meeting.
Pam, of Westbrook, became Honorary Life President in a ceremony at the Town Hall. She received the award for her “devotion and unstinting loyalty” to her family and husband Dave.
Dave is a tetraplegic after breaking his neck in a freak accident playing American football 23 years ago. He says it is because of her physical and emotional support that he is able to continue working and being chairman of WDP.
Since its beginning as Warrington Information Service in 1990, Pam has been the lynchpin holding her family together dealing with many adversities and challenges along the way.
She is an integral part of the charity’s fundraising team and also works on a voluntary basis at the Centre for Independent Living, Beaufort Street.
Pam is a constant at Disability Awareness Week and this summer will be her 23rd year of volunteering. She keeps the troops fed and watered and is affectionately known as “Mrs DAD.”
Colleague Rachel Hanlon said: “We at Team WDP are proud to know Pam, she is an inspiration to us all and very worthy of her new title.”
