THE Northern Chamber Orchestra (NCO) will stage the first in a series of concerts at the Parr Hall, Warrington, on Thursday January 24.
It will feature violin soloist Jennifer Pike, 23, who was the BBC Young Musician of the Year winner in 2002 and made her debut performance with NCO in 2003, when she was just 13.
The concert is entitled Behind the Masks and Jennifer will be playing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. The concert also features Fauré’s fantasy-world of masks, dances and amorous, aristocratic encounters in Masques et Bergamasques and Haydn’s Symphony no.92 Oxford.
The new concert series is supported by funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and means that Warrington audiences can enjoy listening to live classical music from the NCO at local venues until 2015.
Jonathan Thackeray, NCO general manager, said: “The Northern Chamber Orchestra is really delighted to be back in Warrington, playing at a variety of local venues.”
He added: “We are really buzzing about this opportunity, which also includes exciting projects with local schools and community groups, with additional financial assistance from Warrington Borough Council.”
The concert on January 24 starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15, £7 students, 18s and under free. Further details are at www.pyramidparrhall.com or by calling 01925 442345.
