EURO MP Brian Simpson has added his weight to the Fight Against Peel Hall Development campaign at Houghton Green, Warrington.
Local Cllr Geoff Settle said: ‘I was delighted to receive a copy of Brian’s letter objecting to the development at Houghton Green. With word spreading as far as Brussels and our North West MEP writing to the Assistant Director, Peter Taylor, this is great news.’
The campaigners have recently launched a Facebook site ‘Fight Against Peel Hall Development’ https://www.facebook.com/FightAgainstPeelHallDevelopment . The site is growing in popularity every day and shows documents, photographs, comments and opinions from the community. There is also a link to the Warrington Borough Council’s Planning Site for anyone to look at detailed information about the application including all the objections raised so far.
A spoke’s person for the campaigners against the application said ‘We are very pleased that the message is getting through the ‘Satnam sale’s pitch’ and that people now understand the huge impact it will have on their lives’.
Geoff concluded by saying: “It is not as clear cut as Satnam and Winwick Athletic Football Club try to make out. It is not a bed of roses but more like a Death of a Thousand Cuts to the Community.
“Having read what Helen Jones MP has said against the development, it could be described more as, a slow torture through phased development. This phase of 150 properties being the first cut of seven phases leading to the construction of 1500 or more homes.”
