Poppy appeal launch

THE Poppy Appeal will be launching in Warrington on Thursday October 25 – with full backing from the Mayor, Cllr Steve Wright.
This year’s Royal British Legion campaign focuses on supporting the Afghan generation of the Armed Forces family.
Since 2003 the Legion has supported 10,000 serving, ex-service and family members who are part of the Afghan and Iraq generation.
Cllr Wright said: “We always receive great support in Warrington and I hope as many local people as possible get behind the appeal again this year and proudly show their support by wearing a poppy.
“The appeal helps over 100,000 men, women and families each year who are affected and it’s an honour to show our continued support.”
The Poppy Appeal is the main source of funds maintaining the Legion’s many welfare and benevolent schemes in which more than 100,000 people are helped each year.
Volunteers are always needed and anyone aged 16 or more who would like to can contact 0800 085 5924 or visit www.britishlegion.org.uk
