Support for victims of crime

BETTER support for victims of crime and a pledge to keep them informed as their case progresses has been made by Labour’s Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner candidate John Stockton (pictured)
He said: “Victims should be at the heart of the criminal justice system. I will ensure that if someone does become a victim of crime, they will be treated fairly and kept fully up-to-date with progress in their case.
“Victims of crime want to be kept informed on how their case is progressing. They want to know the police are doing everything they can to get justice, and I will ensure that happens as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire.”
He said that only his Party was offering new ideas for the role and a pledge to fight cuts in front-line policing.
His plan also includes giving members of the public easier and quicker opportunities to inform the police of problems in their areas, and meeting the support standards put forward by independent charity Victim Support.
