TWO dog owners at Warrington have been fined for failing to clean up after their pets.
Warrington Borough Council was able to take action against them thanks to the help of local residents who were able to supply key information about the times and dates of the fouling incidents.
Cllr David Keane, the council’s executive member for environment and public protection, said: “We know that the vast majority of dog walkers are responsible people who clean up after their dogs but people need to realise that failing to clean up causes a real health issue and a blight on our communities.
“Unfortunately, there seems to be a small minority of people who continue to ignore this message and it’s important that they understand there will be consequences to their actions.
“I would encourage people to report it to us if they witness irresponsible dog owners and provide us with as much information as possible on the times and locations and any descriptions of the owner or dog”.

I am very pleased with this news – I have been working hard with residents to combat this problem in my ward and we have just completed a month of ‘Love Where You Live’ – the campaign focuses on several topics such as litter and dog fouling.
One thing that people have been asking me is why aren’t people being fined.
I can now tell them that they are.
Good and well done WBC.
Why not name and shame? That might get the message home to these idiots
