WARRINGTON Disability Partnership’s (WDP) Chief Officer Jayne Horton has announced that she will be leaving the organisation after eight years and a variety of roles.
Jayne (pictured right) joined WDP in April 2004, initially as the Volunteer Coordinator, working with WDP’s team of volunteers to support and develop their skills.
Following this, she continued to put a great emphasis on the work of the strong team of volunteers and has always been keen to recognise their work and development.
Under Jayne’s leadership, WDP saw the transformation of the Centre for Independent Living, following a successful bid to the Big Lottery. She was instrumental in organising the large-scale relocation to temporary premises, communications with builders and council partners as well as leading the team to continue with their work supporting local disabled people, their families and carers.
Since 2004, the organisation has grown considerably, with over 40 paid staff members now supporting more than 200 volunteers (60 in 2004) and in recent years seeing annual organisational turnover reach in excess of £1 million.
The launch of the ‘Disability Trading Company’ in 2011, also aims to make improvements in the financial sustainability of the organisation. All of these, Jayne has been instrumental in developing during her time with the organisation.
Trustee, Sue Bentley, said: “Jayne gave 100% of herself to WDP as her charity of choice and has a passion for making a charity work. She gave a lot of her free time for WDP for more than 8 years and helped to raise many thousands of pounds with the efforts of both her and her husband and sons.
“Her ability to untangle complicated projects into a sensible set of processes and communicate that to her team was outstanding. We wish her well in her future career.”
