Roads close for Pride event

1

A NUMBER of town centre roads will be closed today as a result of the first Warrington Pride event – a celebration of the town’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
The event takes place in Queen’s Gardens and the roads to be closed, between 12 noon and 1pm, are Palmyra Square South (from Springfield Street to Bold Street), Suez Street, Rylands Street and Bold Street (from Sankey Street to Suez Street).
The closures are to allow for the safe passage of a parade with vehicular access being managed under the guidance of the Cheshire Police.
It is being organised by LGBT Warrington (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) in partnership with the LGF (Lesbian Gay Foundation), the borough council, Golden Gates Housing Trust, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and Cheshire Police.
In addition to the parade, there will entertainment from local singers and dancers and family entertainment including balloon artist, face painting, bouncy assault course and fairground attraction.
There will also be information stalls supporting partner organisations and the event will end with a vigil.

  1. I see a solution to a local problem. We no longer have a Glazebury Gala procession because of police costs and road closure issues. We will rename it Gay Gala, sorted.
