Vote for park makeover

PEOPLE in Warrington are being asked to vote in a bid to win £30,000 to give a local park a makeover.
Brickfields Park, off Orford Lane, will compete against 36 other parks in the country to win the cash in a campaign run by Flora and community charity Groundwork.
It is the only park in Warrington and Cheshire to reach this stage in the competition. The park with the most Facebook votes wins so votes are needed.
The park is well used by children and families but needs refurbishment, which is why it was nominated by the council’s Stronger Together Central team and the Watkin Street Residents’ Association.
People need a Facebook account to vote. They can do by visiting www.flora.com/playground which links to the Facebook log in page. People can vote once a day up to September 30.
Cllr Kate Hannon, (pictured) executive board member for leisure community and culture, said: “This money would make such a huge difference to this vital community park and the children and families that use it.
“The park is in desperate need of new facilities but we won’t win unless we get the votes so we need everyone from across Warrington to get behind us and vote to win the much needed cash.”
Local people have been asked what facilities they would like, and state of the art play equipment including a zip slide came out on top.
