Another sad day for Labour!

THE latest political in fighting at Warrington town hall, which has resulted in the suspension of a senior group member, has been described as “another sad day for the Labour party!”
A senior Labour party member said:”You would have thought some lessons would have been learned from the past and the Labour group on this council should not be doing their dirty washing in public.”
The latest political in fighting has resulted in the suspension of Cllr Hitesh Patel (pictured right), executive member for communications and equality, who is alleged to have sent out an email to party members using a made up name.
As a result, a complaint was made to the Labour Party’s regional office who have suspended the Great Sankey South ward councillor pending an investigation, as
first revealed by warrington-worldwide on Saturday.
On a previous occasion when the regional office was involved in a local dispute it led to the leaders of the two rival factions, former leaders of the council John Gartside and Mike Hughes, both being deselected.
Commenting on his suspension Cllr Patel said: “This is a purely political dispute which will be resolved internally by the Labour Party. There are serious questions for Helen Jones MP to answer about the conduct and behaviour of her son, Cllr Chris Vobe, towards democratically elected Labour Councillors in Warrington and I expect to be exonerated.
“In the meantime I will continue to work hard to represent the residents of Great Sankey South.”
He says there has be no breach of a councillor’s code of conduct.
After contacting Cllr Vobe (pictured left) for a comment he referred the matter to the North West regional office.
A North West Labour Party spokesperson said: “Hitesh Patel has been suspended from the Labour Party while an investigation takes place. It would not be appropriate to comment any further at this point.”
