Broomhead to stay longer

1

A DECISION on extending the contract of interim chief executive of the borough council, Professor Steven Broomhead, is expected to be approved on Monday.
A meeting of the full council at the Town Hall will be asked to approve extending his contact until May 31 next year, or until such times that a permanent appointee is able to take up the role, whichever is earlier.
The council will also be asked to agree that the purpose of the role for the extended period will be the same as that agreed in June.

  1. Appoint his deputy as the temporary replacement and save one salary while this process drags on (if he or she gets the job permanently then you can shuffle people around and scrap a senior position)
