PLANS for a major reconstruction of a Warrington primary school, enabling it to accommodate 258 pupils, compared to the current 215, have been given the green light.
The borough council’s planning committee have approved proposals to re-build Bewsey Lodge Primary in Lodge Lane, Bewsey.
Staff numbers will increase from 30 to 33 to cater for the additional pupils.
The school – built in the middle of the last century – has fallen into disrepair and is no longer considered acceptable for modern teaching.
The plan involves refurbishing a central, two-storey block which contains the entrance foyer, offices, dining hall and kitchens and demolish and replace two single storey teaching wings.
