MUSIC gurus in Warrington are making their final call for young bands and singers to enter the hotly contested Golden Mic competition at Golden Square shopping centre.
Talented teenagers aged between 12-19 are being urged to take part in the music competition to be in with a chance of winning an once-in-a-lifetime prize package.
All groups and solo artists have to do is post a video of themselves performing their best track on the Golden Square Facebook page or send in their YouTube video link.
Experts from the Warrington music scene will listen and judge the entries before choosing the three finalists who will go on to battle it out in a public vote on Facebook.
The winning band or performer will be treated to a full day at a professional recording studio to record their own music as well as a chance to perform to a home crowd at Golden Square Shopping Centre.
Centre manager, Ian Cox, said: “The Golden Mic competition gives young talent in Warrington a real chance to shine and I would urge anyone with aspirations to crack the music industry to enter.”
Jason Taylor, organiser of the Plugged under 18s event and Golden Mic judge said the competition is a fantastic opportunity for talented teens.
He added: “I think it’s great to see important local organisations such as Golden Square supporting local musical talent in this way. The Golden Mic competition is a great way for young Warrington musicians to get recognition for all their hard work and will hopefully be the springboard to bigger and better things.”
The competition has been organised as part of Golden Square Shopping Centre’s ‘Get Creative’ campaign, which aims to get more young people to engage in creative activities.
Bands or singers need to be unsigned and to enter can either upload their video to the Golden Square Facebook page or send the YouTube link to [email protected] by Saturday, August 11, with their name, address, age and contact details.
