POLICE are searching a number of properties at Warrington following the discovery of a woman’s body in North Wales.
One house is at Appleton and another at Bruche and it is understood a third property in the borough is also being searched following what police describe as a “suspicious death.”
A 57-year-old man from Warrington went to a police station at St Asaph, in North Wales last night and is still being questioned on suspicion of murder.
It is understood the body of a woman was found in his car.
Cheshire Police are working with North Wales Police on the enquiry.
The identity of the woman has not yet been formally confirmed but police believe they know who it is and next of kin have been informed.
A spokeswoman said: “The investigation is at a very early stage and officers from Cheshire Constabulary are currently making enquiries at three separate locations in the Cheshire area.”
A spokesman for North Wales Police said it was believed the man being questioned and the dead woman were known to each other.
No cause of death has been established as yet, but a post mortem is to take place tomorrow (Friday).
