Katie and Fred's litter bin vivctory

A LYMM woman and her dog have succeeded, where others failed, in persuading borough council chiefs to install litter bins near their home.
Katie Hewins and her Golden Retriever, Fred are regular walkers around Bucklow Gardens and the fields and canal towpath near Oughtrington Primary School – and were disgusted at the amount of litter, including dog mess bags, left lying around the area.
Husband Matt said: “We had seen numerous articles in the local press about different people’s attempts to get bins installed, without ever seeing any results.
“Fred did his best by picking up litter himself, but we were fed up at having to pull crisp packets, plastic bottles and other items from his mouth!
“After tirelessly calling the borough council, a gentleman there proved particularly helpful and we now have two bins located on Bucklow Gardens – one by the school and one conveniently located adjacent to a dog walkers and school-goers thoroughfare.”
