Students seek workplaces

UNIVERSITY students are seeking work placements with companies in Warrington.
Students based on the Warrington campus of Chester University will take their skills to workplaces for free.
As part of their second year undergraduate studies they have to complete a five week unpaid work placement.
The university’s Work Based Learning (WBL) team is seeking companies who would be willing to offer opportunities to students from May 8 to June 8 at no cost. The students looking for placements study a range of BA/BSc degree programmes at Warrington including Business Management, Finance, Marketing, Events Management, Journalism, PR, Advertising, Media Studies, Commercial Music Production, TV and Radio Production and Sports Development.
They have a good knowledge of their subject area and are keen to gain expertise and develop skills in the workplace and enhance their employability upon graduation.
Companies taking part will benefit in a whole host of ways: gaining an extra pair of hands; receiving a fresh and new perspective and ideas from the student; helping to develop the workforce of the future and giving a student responsibility for a project.
The WBL team will oversee the whole of the placement process together with tutor support throughout the placement.
Dianne Noon, WBL placement co-ordinator, said: “This is a great opportunity for both businesses and students to learn from each other. Companies can enjoy the benefits of having an extra pair of hands for five weeks and it’s an invaluable experience for the students to develop their employability skills.”
To take part in the programme contact Dianne Noon at the Warrington Campus on 01925 534242 or email [email protected] for more information.
