House plan appeal rejected

PROPOSALS to demolish a disused industrial building in Mill Lane, Lymm, to make way for a detached dwelling have been ruled out by a planning inspector.
He says the development would add unnecessarily to an over-supply of housing land in Warrington.
The applicant had appealed against the refusal by the borough council to grant permission for the scheme and had offered to de-convert two flats he owned elsewhere in Lymm into one dwelling to offset the new dwelling.
But the inspector ruled that the appeal site, in Heatley, and the property to be de-converted were not in the same locality and linking proposals in this way could lead to increased pressure on already high demand areas.
He believed the proposal would be unworkable in practice and could weaken the council’s position in future.
