IT will be a case of friends re-united when Warrington Wolves travel over to Australia for a warm weather training camp ahead of the 2012 Super League XVII season to tackle Matt King’s next club South Sydney Rabbitohs.
As part of this pre-season build-up the Wolves will play the Rabbitohs at BCU International Stadium in Coffs Harbour on Saturday February 4, 2012.
Matt King (pictured right) has announced that he will be leaving the Wolves at the end of this season to team up with the Rabbitohs.
The match will form part of the Rabbitohs build-up to the start of the 2012 NRL premiership and the club’s pre-season camp at Camp Rabbitoh in Coffs Harbour.
Andy Gatcliffe, Warrington Wolves Chief Executive, said: “A pre-season tour of Australia will be extremely beneficial for both the coaches and players alike and this can only have strong positive benefits for Warrington Wolves’ relationship with both South Sydney Rabbitohs and the wider NRL. From a club point of view, warm weather training together with trial games in Australia will certainly take the club to a new development level.”
Warrington’s Head of Coaching and Rugby Tony Smith added: “Obviously we look forward to the warm weather training but further to that some of the cultural discoveries too in terms of training methods and training techniques within not only Rugby League but we hope to also look at other sports and the ways they prepare. We are always looking for ways to improve the culture within our club and sport so this is a great opportunity and we are very grateful to South Sydney and also Simon Moran for making this a reality.”
