Wolves crush Crusaders

WARRINGTON Wolves got back to winning ways with a crushing 64-6 victory over basement club Celtic Crusaders.
Still missing the influential Lee Briers the Wolves got off to the worst possible start, with Rhys Hanbury crossing for the visitors after just three minutes and Clinton Schifcofske adding the extras for a shock 0-6 lead .
Despite dominating most of the play it took Warrington a while to get going and it was play maker Michael Monaghan who eventually unlocked the Crusader’s defence with a pass to Brett Hodgson who crossed the whitewash and then converted to level the scores after 20 minutes.
The Wolves then sparked into life crossing for three tries in 10 minutes.
Good work by young Welsh winger Rhys Williams ended up with Benny Westwood touching down Hodgson’s kick.
Hodgson added the extras to make it 12-6 after 26 minutes.
It was the Welsh wingers turn to get on the score sheet next after a sweeping move involving Monaghan, Hodgson, Myler and Atkins saw the youngster race clear, with Hodgson’s conversion making it 18-6.
Louis Anderson completed the first half scoring for the Wolves after out jumping the Crusader’s defence following a Michael Monaghan cross field kick. Hodgson was again on target to make it 24-6 at the break.
After the re-start it took just 60 seconds for the Wolves to add to their tally as they added seven second half tries without reply, from Atkins twice on 41 and 57 minutes, Westwood grabbing his second of the night after 46 minutes, Bridge after 49 minutes, Hodgson with his second try after 69 minutes, Monaghan after 72 and Myler with the final score after 47 minutes.
Hodgson was on target with six of his seven second half conversion attempts for a personal points tally of 28!
