Music student releases first album

A FORMER Warrington schoolboy who was accepted as the youngest-ever student at a top media school has released his first album.
Richard Caddock, aged 17, only left Birchwood High School in July 2009 and is now inn the second year of a course in audio and sound engineering at Futureworks, in Manchester – a course normally only open to people already working in the music industry.
Futureworks took the unusual step of offering Richard a place after he demonstrated his commitment, enthusiasm and gift for creating music at a two hour interview.
He writes his own songs and music, records mixes and masters them and produces them.
The skills he learned at the school encouraged him to set up his own small studio at home and, over the past three months, produced the five-track album “Goals and Ghosts” under his artist name of RainbowDaize.
It is available in many online stores including iTunes, Spotify, Zune, LastFM, Amazon and MySpaceMusic.
He also released a single, “Snow” at Christmas.
Richard said: “I’ve been around music all of my life. Started off singing, and playing keyboards and then moved forward with electric and acoustic guitar, and later drums to top it off.
“I’ve only ever had lessons in guitar and a bit of singing at school, but I’m mostly self taught, and its all just by ear, being able to pull apart songs and music in my head, and re-create it with my hands.”
The album contains songs in different styles as Richard believes no-one should be tied to one genre.
He says he has been influenced by Adam Young, of Owl City and Lights.
“A lot of songs that hit the charts from various genres have helped shape the music I produce, and music from games really spurs my inner love for music that changes people’s emotions.
“I’m still in the process of shaping the style of music I am. The slightly more R ‘n’ B/Pop Owl City style is just where I am at the moment. Sometimes I can sit at home and happily create progressive house and DubStep and still feel like RainbowDaize.”
