Bin collections face disruption

BIN collections in Warrington are likely to be disrupted by the snowy conditions this week, the borough council has warned.
There are no collections on Mondays, but the forecasts suggest there is unlikely to be any improvement today.
With this in mind, the council’s waste team is setting up and manning 16 bin collection points today.
A full list of the sites, hours of operation and other useful weather-related information can be found at www.warrington.gov.uk/winter
At present no other services seem to be affected. Most schools have now finished for the Christmas break.

  1. I’d better get my mum to get her wheelchair out and drag the bin to the collection point then eh?

Typical council safety nonsense….. They expect everyone to take their bins to a collection point…. why don’t the bloody binmen park the truck at the end of the road and let the binmen come and collect the bins? It may take a bit longer, ut at least they will be working for the money we pay them

  2. Bet you don’t get a refund of your council tax because they are not meeting their obligations. Health and safety gone OTT! How do other countries like Sweden or Canada manage – they much more snow than us but the whole country doesn’t come to a standstill!

  3. collection points are ok if you have transport to get to them – it’s a 3/4 mile walk for me! In saying that – I can go a few weeks without having my bin emptied as I recycle what I can – blue bin will need emptying before the black bin…..

Re the bin men – aren’t they out on gritting duties?

  4. in Canda it is every resident responsibility to keep there own piece of path clear… if you don’t you will get prosecuted and receive a hefty fine…

You also have to fit snow tyres by law, so stop moaning about the governements response and get of your backside and do something yourself!

ps If you recycled more you wouldn’t need your bin collected every week anyway!

  5. Canadian Abroad…. I have winter tyres fitted, I don’t have a footpath in our close; only a road which I did grit last year but the bin wagons didn’t come…. I have done everything you suggest….any more bright ideas?….and by the way, do Canadians really have wobbly heads like they do on South Park??
