Wolves face Widnes in festive cracker

WARRINGTON Wolves traditional Boxing Day clash with Widnes Vikings is set to take place at the Halton Stadium with both clubs promising to field strong teams in a festive extravaganza.
The 2010 reunion will be entitled the James Edwards Land Rover Challenge and it is expected that both Tony Smith and Denis Betts will field as strong a team as possible for the clash, in what will be stage one of both clubs’ preparations for their 2011 campaigns.
In the primrose and blue corner, Richie Myler will be returning to the ground where he first made his name in the professional game, and Tony Smith will prepare for his first Widnes – Warrington derby.
Likewise Viking Steve Pickersgill will be relishing the prospect of facing his former teammates for the first time. By the same token, Denis Betts will also be looking forward to seeing his charges in competitive action for the first time.
Widnes Vikings Director of Rugby and former Wolves coach Paul Cullen commented: “Widnes – Warrington derbies have a life of their own! We are determined, long term, to re-establish all the rivalry that this fixture deserves.”
Fans from both sides will be invited to take part in the afternoon with themed entertainment both pre-game and at half-time planned for people of all ages.
Tickets for the ‘James Edwards Land Rover Challenge which will take place at the Stobart Stadium Halton on Sunday 26 December at 3.00pm are priced from £12 for adults and from £6 for concessions / juniors.
Tickets will be available from Wolfware and online at warringtonwolves.com in the coming weeks. Further ticket and fixture details will be released in due course.
A family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) priced at £30 can also be purchased, and hospitality packages are available for the game, priced at £45.
