WARRINGTON utility player Mickey Higham
has suffered a cup semi-final curse for the second season running after breaking his thumb during the victory over Crusaders at the weekend.
X-rays have revealed a bad break which will require pinning, with Higham now facing a six week lay-off, meaning he will miss the Challenge Cup semi-final against Catalan at Widnes next month.
Last season Higham suffered a torn bicep and missed the Challenge Cup victory over his former club Wigan but recovered ahead of schedule to feature in the Challenge Cup victory over Huddersfield Giants.
Higham is expected to be out for six weeks with his thumb injury, which means he will miss the Challenge Cup semi-final against Catalans, but again has a chance of being fit for the final, should Warrington make it.
But fellow utility player Jon Clarke, who missed last year’s final, will have other ideas, as he is set to return from his lengthy lay-off in Sunday’s Super League clash against Castleford Tigers at the Halliwell Jones on Sunday, kick off 3pm.
