GRAPPENHALL’S 100 per cent record in the Chapel Press Cheshire County League continued with a six wicket victory at Macclesfield.
The home side batted first and were dismissed for 156, skipper Steve Titchard taking 3-42 and Luke McCoy 3-24.
Grappers replied with 158-4, McCoy completing a fine all-round performance by hitting an unbeaten 78. Adam Roylance offered good support with 31.
The result kept Grappenhall in top spot in division one.
Grappenhall raced to a nine wicket victory over Liverpool Competition side Wallasey at Broad Lane in the National Cup.
The visitors elected to bat first but after making a good start were soon struggling against skipper Steve Titchard’s bowling.
In two spells, the former Lancashire all-rounder took 5-21 in nine overs.
James McCoy and Richard Green put on 63 for the first wicket when Grappenhall replied.
Ian Wright then joined McCoy, playing second fiddle with 35 not out as McCoy raced to 112 not out – his maiden century for Grappenhall – to win with 14 overs to spare.
Grappenhall 2nd raced to a eight wicket victory over Bowdon at Broad Lane – winning with 34 overs to spare.
Bowdon elected to bat first on a good wicket but were soon in trouble, losing their opener to the first ball from Harry Worley.
Leading wicket taker Sam Guest was soon in on the act and finished with 5-14 from 11 overs and there were two wickets each for Matt Titchard and S Jogi. Bowdon were all out for 115.
Will Sharp, 73 not out and Mike Sambell, 37 put the Bowdon attack to the sword and Grappenhall earned a full 25 points reaching 121-2 in just 19 overs.
Grappenhall 3rd earned a draw at Marple after the home side reached 210-7 in 45 overs.
Replying, Grappenhall never really got going and found runs hard to get. Only Neil Muttock, with a fluent 39, made much of a contribution and in the end it was left to the tail to hang on at 116-9 – a result that earned the side eight points.
Warrington enjoyed victory by a margin of 59 runs when they entertained Tattenhall.
Batting first, Warrington reached 219-6, Dan Pascoe hitting 71 and David Pascoe 39.
Tattenhall were dismissed for 160 with Ryan Swart taking 4-44 and Pascoe 3-45.
Lymm Oughtrington Park went down by 53 runs in their Meller Braggins Cheshire League game against Prestbury at Oughtrington Lane.

In the Cheshire Alliance, Rylands suffered a heavy, 106-run defeat at the hands of a strong Hartford side.
Hartford declared on 207-8, with Richard Buck the most effective bowler for Rylands, taking 3-27.
Rylands’ reply started disastrously with the first three batsmen out for ducks and the side never really recovered. Tony Huddard hit 29 and Adam Peters 24 not out but the final total was 101.
In a cup game, Rylands were in better form, handing out a 61-run hiding to Styal.
Rylands reached 203-8, Sam Mulholland 65 and Alex Green 39. Then they dismissed Styal for 142, Buck taking 4-9 and Mulholland completing a fine all-round performance with 3-44.
Appleton went down by three wickets against Langley. Batting first, they could only muster 109, Tom Shard top-scoring with 22. Langley reached their target for the loss of seven wickets, with Ed Pugh, Tom Lomas and Brian Woods taking two wickets each.
Mike Arnold hit a fine 66 for Appleton 2nd who totalled 186. But it was not enough to defeat Hartford who had earlier declared on 195-6. Stuart Bate with 4-43 was Appleton’s best bowler.
Appleton 3rd were bowled out for 137, Roger Cawthorne 37 and Stuart MacGregor 21 but Mossley had no trouble in reaching their target for the loss of just two wickets.
Glazebury dismissed Knutsford for 134, paceman Sam Stanier taking 6-44. Glazebury coasted to victory on 136-3, Wayne Hargreaves hitting 62, Simon Green 27 and Phil McCue 22 not out.
Veterans Stuart Caller, 4-58 and Jon Gibbons, 4-28 were the pick of the bowlers when Glazebury 2nd took on Wistaston who were all out for 211.
But the Glazebury batting was not up to the task and despite Andy Durrington’s belligerent 36 and John Acton’s 22 they were all out for 131.
