Probe into cause of death

A POST mortem examination is being held this afternoon to try and establish the cause of death of a 56-year-old man found on the M6 near Warrington.
Earlier today, police said it was believed the man, who was found near his car, parked on the hardshoulder on the northbound carriageway near Junction 20, at Lymm, had been struck by another vehicle while changing a wheel.
But now it is not clear if he had been involved in an accident or had collapsed and died from natural causes.
The motorway was closed for several hours following the incident at around 3.40am and did not reopen until around 9am.
As a result there was severe congestion on the motorway and adjoining roads.
Police are still seeking witnesses of the incident and

anyone who can help should call them on 0845 458 0000 or on the

confidential Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
