WARRINGTON Wolves stars Kevin Penny and Matty Blythe joined team mascot Wolfie in Warrington town centre to urge local women to enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.
Organisers hope 2500 women will sign up for the Warrington event at Arley Hall on July 4 at 11am and help to raise the £133,375 target.
Race for Life is the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series where all the money raised goes to fund Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
Women of all ages and fitness abilities are welcome to walk, jog or run 5k, regardless of whether they are taking part on their own or as part of a group.
Hannah Thomas, Cancer Research UK’s North West event manager said: “Race for Life in Warrington has an unforgettable atmosphere. Local women of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness abilities come together to make a positive difference to the lives of people touched by cancer.
“They motivate and inspire each other to complete the 5k, with many simply walking around, chatting and having fun.”
Warrington participants will be part of a total of 700,000 women taking part in over 230 events across the UK between May and July. Cancer Research UK hopes that together they will raise a total of £60 million to fund the charity’s life saving work.
Women in Warrington can enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at www.raceforlife.org or by calling 0871 641 1111.
