Utilities firm in quiet revolution

WARRINGTON-based company Energetics – a one-stop provider of gas and electricity infrastructure – is leading a “quiet revolution” in the energy utilities market.
In little more than three years, the independent company has gone from a standing start to becoming the UK’s leading independent network operator and is trailblazing dramatic changes in the multi-utilities sector.
Based in Kingsland Grange, where it employs 25 staff, is providing utility infrastructure at more than 30 developments in the North West, including two major residential developments in Warrington itself.
They are among more than 200 contracts the company is currently undertaking throughout the UK – a rapidly expanding portfolio which is making its larger rivals sit up and take notice.
Chief executive Bill McClymont said: “We are not in this just to play a bit part. We are determined to grow our business and our reputation by challenging outdated convention and restrictive practices as well as providing a first-class, value-for-money service,”
The 49-year-old relishes the fact that he and his team are not only challenging their larger and more established rivals, but are also working closely with the electricity and gas regulator, Ofgem, to improve the industry for the benefit of customers and consumers.
McClymont predicts a good year ahead for the company which has a healthy order book and is currently in recruitment mode.
