Rotary aims to stamp out polio

ROTARY clubs throughout the world are raising money this week to support their campaign to stamp out polio – and that includes Warrington.
A display has been put on in the community shop window in the Golden Square Shopping Centre and on Saturday, February 27, there will be a display and collection at the Tesco Extra store on Winwick Road.
This has been organised by the Rotary Club of Warrington, with assistance from Newton Jubilee and Runcorn Rotary Clubs.
The Gates Foundation, through Bill and Melinda Gates of Microsoft, have already pledged $355 million towards the campaign and Rotary International has to match this by $200 million by the end of June 2012.
Rotary has already raised half this figure.
