Good causes to benefit

TWO good causes will benefit from a fund raising initiative by Warrington college staff.
Every year, Priestley College stages its “Scrooge” appeal, in which staff are asked to give to instead of sending traditional Christmas cards around campus.
A total of £450 was raised – and the college has decided it should be split evenly between Warrington Grassroots and The Downs Syndrome Education Fund.
Grassroots representative Marissa Hankinson visited the college to collect half the money while the other half will be sent to the Downs Syndrome group to help fund their range of on-going programmes.
College spokeswoman Bev Devlin said “We were delighted to take in as much money as we did during the Scrooge Appeal and it’s always great to hand over the funds to two such worthwhile causes. We hope our small contribution can help in some way to help support the on-going work of both organisations.”
