POLICE who surrounded a Warrington house where a man was trying to harm himself, finally persuaded him to come out peacefully after 40 hours of negotiation.
Specially trained officers were called to the drama in Birchwood in the early hours on Friday morning, where a 37 year old man was threatening to harm himself.
Other occupants of the house left without being harmed and a cordon was set up around the house in Trefoil Close. The man left the house peacefully on Saturday evening at around 6.30pm and was taken to hospital.

  1. 40 hours of police siege and speciallist negotiators just because some bloke was threatening to hurt himself? Once it was established there was no-one else in there with him I’d have sent in a gun with one bullet and let him get on with it quickly!

  2. Yes of course you would Pete, never mind that this poor bloke’s probably got some serious mental health issues. But of course, that would never happen to you or yours would it?

  3. well i hope you feel good about yourself, and can sleep at night inky pete as i am the wife of this man, and he is suffering with a mental illness..im sure if it was your wife or a member of your family you would feel different having to experience something like this, thats what gets me with ignorant people like yourself with no emotion what so ever..all i can say is nobody knows what is round the corner from one day to the next, and you might be living a normal life at the moment but it could quite easily happen to you….and i would not wish anyone to have to experience wot me and my family have gone through…try gettin an understanding on mental health illnesses before commenting….because like i said you just dont know whats round the corner..

  4. I used to live on trefoil close, before i split up with partner and had to move on, but i am pretty sure i know who this person is and i have to say, he is one of the nicest blokes you would ever meet and without mentioning any names (wgton) i hope both you and your husband are getting things sorted and you get back to normal soon.
