Patients can choose their hospital

1

PATIENTS in Warrington are being reminded in most cases they have the

option to choose which English NHS hospital they are treated in.
Choosing

a hospital can be based on whatever matters most to a patient including

the recommendation of a GP, overall quality of service, where they

work, patient options, waiting times, location, infection rates,

parking facilities and disabled access.
The best way patients can

view choices available to them is through a choose and book referral

system available online and at GP practices.
All NHS hospitals and hospitals contracted to the NHS are available – provided they offer the treatment required.
Jim

Britt, NHS Warrington’s senior commissioning development manager, said:

“It’s fantastic that in most cases patients have an option as to which

hospital they may opt to receive treatment from.
“We encourage

people to choose to access treatment wherever they feel most

comfortable and this freedom of choice can help make obtaining health

care easier for those who need it.”
More information about choosing a hospital can be found at www.nhs.uk/choices or ask at GP practice. Patients can also visit www.chooseandbook.nhs.uk/.
