TWO top law enforcement officers from Pakistan made a high-profile visit to Warrington to meet members of the borough council’s trading standards team – because they had heard about its reputation.
The two high ranking visitors, from Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency, visited the Town Hall.
During a European tour the officials also went to Interpol in Lyon, to see French Customs and Excise in Paris and the UN in Geneva.
Warrington was their only stop in the UK – and was chosen because they had heard about the high profile work of the trading standards team to tackle counterfeit products across the globe.
The Federal Investigation Agency deals with organised crime in Pakistan.
Coun Ian Marks, leader of the council, said: “This was a real coup for us and demonstrates how our reputation for excellence in this important area of law enforcement is recognised across the world.”

Whilst I applaud their reputation, I find it very sad that they “seem to be no longer accessible” to the public. At one time, you could just pop in and get advice, now you can’t and it has become a case of “Why bother”. Sad indeed.
Do the powers that be deliberately cut the services (anywhere) that are most productive to the public?
