WARRINGTON’S multi-million pound “Building Schools for the Future” programme was officially launched at a special presentation at Padgate’s Lysander High School.
VIP guests mingled with pupils at the event which celebrated securing the package which will result in major building projects at four schools.
Lysander High itself will undergo a major modernisation, William Beamont High and Penketh High will be re-built and there will be major modernisation at Sir Thomas Boteler CE High, Latchford
The borough council will launch a dedicated Building Schools for the Future website early in the New Year featuring detailed plans and new developments.
A borough council spokesman said: “Young people are involved in the process every step of the way. A working group comprising of pupils from each of the schools has already been formed and recently they journeyed to London on a fact finding mission.
“This group of around 40 students will influence the design and facilities available in each of the four schools by driving each of the projects according to their perceived priorities for the future. They and other young people have also been involved in the design of the BSF for Warrington website.”
The newly refurbished/built schools will have the very latest technologies and equipment – projectors, step seats, teacherwalls and fatboy beanbags will all be common place in the classroom of the future.
Warrington is one of 12 areas sharing £800 million of BSF cash in this latest round of funding with the final figure for the borough due to be confirmed in the New Year.
BSF is a national initiative that aims to deliver 21st century learning facilities for every secondary school pupil in England.
