THE annual Winter Market in Stockton Heath received “double praise” from a parish councillor.
Coun Graham Roughsedge told the parish council: “I praised the market last year and I double praise it this year. It was much better than last year – it was a fantastic success.”
The market, organised by Stockton Heath Festival, took place at the Forge Shopping Centre, The Mulberry Tree Inn and the Red Lion.
Coun Celia Jordan said: “The atmosphere was really ‘villagey’.”
One of the organisers, Coun Tudor Pole said,it was “very good for business,” and shops, cafes and pubs had all reported an increase in trade.
There was no trouble, no drunks and no violence and there had been a friendly atmosphere.
He said there were more than 50 pitches and organising the event involved a lot of work. He praised all those who had volunteered to help.
